I have been a huge fan of Keto for a couple of years now. I found it by accident and didn’t understand what it was. I was reunited with it later when a friend of mine was doing it and took the time to explain it to me. I had no clue it could be so simple. I had been trying to lose weight for months. I mean eight months or more of eating oatmeal, cutting sugars, eating more vegetables… torture. Then he explained how he had lost 25 lbs by eating bacon, fat, and other meats… I was very much intrigued.

I started with reddit. The keto sub-reddit is a great starting point. I began to watch my carbs and realized how many carbs were in the low fat food. I read everything that I could find on the subject and learned as much as I could. I wanted to know what was happening and why. That is more than most people.

Most People's Keto Diet

People don’t want to be told what to eat. Instead what they want are your results. I started telling people how great it was, and how I felt, but nobody cared. Once I dropped 30 lbs, and my face was carved out for the first time ever, they wanted to know my secret.

So I would tell them. I told them exactly what I was eating and how it worked. They just wanted to know how to lose the weight. Ultimately I have only had one other person stay on the diet. He has lost over 125lbs in 10 months. He is changing his life for the better. The rest of the people who jumped on the bad wagon were done in less than seven day.

Keto ain't for everyone

While I love it, the keto diet is not for everyone. It isn’t easy and takes some serious discipline. While the majority of people loved it at first realized it was not for them. They ended up doing it wrong and felt like utter crap by the first week. They ultimately gave up and went back to their own ideas and ways.

Being a Keto Dad

So now for the current situation. My brother started keto for the first time about a month ago. He is seeing a great following on his progress, to the likes that I have never had. He has inspired me to jump back on it and improve my health for the better. I want to be able to be around for my son when he graduates highschool or gets married. The only way I see myself doing that is to get into shape and becoming healthy. I am starting my keto journey again today. I will be eating a maximum of 25g of carbs per day and keeping processed foods to a minimum and cutting inflammatory products like dairy out of my diet.

Keep me accountable as I document my journey.
